All-in-one green industry platform offers customised solutions
Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK), the 14th edition of Eco Expo Asia will run from 30 October to 2 November at AsiaWorld-Expo. About 300 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions are joining the event at which 10 thematic zones – including Green Transportation, the Greater Bay Area zone, Eco-friendly Products and the Startup zone – will showcase a comprehensive range of green products and technologies.
A launch ceremony for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Environmental Industry Alliance will be held on the first day of the expo, at which officials from Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macao will sign a Memorandum of Cooperation. Wong Kam-shing, Secretary for the Environment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), will be a witness at the signing ceremony.
In the latest policy address by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, new initiatives were announced related to green transportation, including the government’s HK$2 billion pilot subsidy scheme to promote the installation of electric vehicle charging points in the car parks of existing private residential buildings. The expo features a Green Transportation zone showcasing the latest charging facilities and electric trucks, including the FAW VERTEC, a 100% electricity-powered truck (Booth: 3-D30), and the EVACL Series Floor-standing Electric Vehicle AC Charger (Booth: 3-F29). Visitors will be able to participate in test drives or rides of the truck on the public day on the last day of the expo.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area zone will present a broad range of innovative green products and technologies from some 100 firms in the Greater Bay Area. The Hong Kong Pavilion, an annual highlight of Eco Expo Asia, this year comprises 43 exhibitors from the Hong Kong Environmental Industry Association and Business Environment Council to showcase products and technologies covering waste reduction, water treatment, recycling and energy conservation. The expo’s Startup zone, meanwhile, will showcase inspiring products and technologies from 18 start-ups.
The Eco Asia Conference will be held over the first three days of the expo (30 October to 1 November), with experts and representatives from around the world discussing important environmental issues. Among the speakers, a representative from ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions (Hong Kong) will introduce the city’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Treatment and Recycling Facility (WEEE·PARK), while a representative from TÜV Rheinland will share on cleaner production methods in the textile supply chain.
The final day of Eco Expo Asia (2 November) will offer free admission to the public. Visitors can attend forums staged by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education and join various workshops to enjoy a hands-on experience of making eco-friendly products. In addition, the popular Green Mart will offer a wide variety of green products for sale to promote green living, including reusable beeswax food wraps (Booth: 3-SG03) and environment-friendly laundry detergent (Booth: 3-SG02).
Running in parallel with the expo are the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), which will be held from 27 to 30 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo running at AsiaWorld-Expo from 29 October to 1 November. These concurrent events will create greater synergies and more business opportunities for exhibitors and buyers.
